JK Rowling gives �1 million to British Labor Party

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has donated £1 million to the Labor Party in the United Kingdom, in a rather personal appeal she hopes will highlight the plight of the poor.

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson puts acting career on hold

The 18-year-old wants to concentrate on her degree after finishing filming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on which she starts work early in the New Year.

"I would like to go to university and complete a degree and so that will mean a break from acting," Miss Watson, who has made more than £10 million thus far from the Harry Potter franchise, told The Telegraph.

"I've always tried to balance my education with my acting career, but I just don't think it will be possible to juggle it with a degree course. I have a need now to study."

"There are excellent universities over there and I'm applying at the moment," she said. "If I stay in this country I will read English Literature, and if I go to America I would do a Liberal Arts programme."

Deathy Hallows wins 2007 Nebula Award !!

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Presented the Nebula Awards for 2007 at the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown in Austin, Texas on Saturday. The Andre Norton Award for Young Adult Science Fiction and Fantasy was awarded to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling.

Harry Potter books cast a spell over collectors !!

Serious booklovers will be turning their eyes to Christie's, the London auction house on Wednesday 19 March, for some real magic. Up for auction in the Fine Printed Books sale is Lot 106, a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone published in 1997. It contains an additional treasure: a publisher's slip signed by the author, JK Rowling.

According to the Mirror, the 17-year-old actress said: "I'm really happy. I'm not sure if he is 'the one' just yet, we've only been going out together for three weeks, but it's brilliant at the moment. He is a friend of a friend.
