Durmstrang Institute is a fictional magic school. The school has existed for at least 700 years when they began participating in the Triwizard Tournament. The name points to a Germanic origin[citation needed], a play on the phrase Sturm und Drang. The location of the school is never disclosed, and although the name may be Germanic in origin, one noted student- Victor Krum- is Bulgarian in heritage, and Dumbledore also welcomes Durmstrang's students as "our friends from the North." As most of Germany is further south than most of England, as is Bulgaria, we are left with very few clues as to where the school might be located. Durmstrang students wear heavy furs with blood-red robes. In the film adaptation, Durmstrang dress includes designs that resemble Russian ushankas and tsigeika coats
